Are you irritated from scraping the payment together to keep your car insured? You’re in the same situation as many other consumers.
Consumers have many insurance companies to choose from, and although it’s nice to have multiple companies, so many choices can make it hard to adequately compare rates.
You should take the time to check car insurance prices periodically since insurance rates fluctuate regularly. If you had the lowest premium rates on tC insurance a few years ago you can probably find a lower rate today. There are a lot of ways to save on car insurance online but in this article, you’re going to get the easiest ways to lower your car insurance premiums.
There are several ways to compare auto insurance prices but there is one way that is less time-consuming than others. You can spend your afternoon talking to insurance companies in your area, or you can stay home and use online quotes for quick rates.
Most car insurance companies take part in a program that enables customers to complete one form, and each participating company can give them a price based on that data. This eliminates the need for form submissions to every company.

The one downside to getting quotes like this is you don’t know exactly the providers to receive prices from. If you prefer to choose specific providers to request quotes from, we put together a list of auto insurance companies in your area. Click here for list of insurance companies.
It’s your choice how you get your quotes, but try to use nearly identical coverage limits and deductibles for every company. If you use differing limits you will not be able to make a fair comparison for your Scion tC. Even a minor difference in insurance coverages or limits could skew the results. And when price shopping your coverage, making a lot of price comparisons provides better odds of finding a better price. Not every company provides online price quotes, so you need to compare price quotes from them, too.
Some insurers do not list their entire list of discounts very well, so the list below gives a summary of both well-publicized and also the more inconspicuous discounts that you may qualify for.
One thing to note about discounts is that some of the credits will not apply to your bottom line cost. Most only reduce individual premiums such as comprehensive or collision. If you do the math and it seems like having all the discounts means you get insurance for free, insurance companies aren’t that generous.
Larger insurance companies and their offered discounts are:
Before you buy a policy, ask each company or agent which discounts they offer. Some of the discounts discussed earlier may not apply to policies in your area. To choose insurance companies who offer insurance discounts, follow this link.
When buying the best insurance coverage coverage, there really is not a cookie cutter policy. Everyone’s situation is a little different so this has to be addressed. Here are some questions about coverages that may help highlight if your insurance needs would benefit from professional advice.
If it’s difficult to answer those questions but a few of them apply then you might want to talk to an agent. If you want to speak to an agent in your area, simply complete this short form or click here for a list of insurance coverage companies in your area.
Learning about specific coverages of your policy can help you determine which coverages you need and the correct deductibles and limits. Policy terminology can be confusing and reading a policy is terribly boring. These are the normal coverages available from car insurance companies.
Comprehensive (Other than Collision)
This pays for damage that is not covered by collision coverage. You first have to pay a deductible then your comprehensive coverage will pay.
Comprehensive coverage pays for claims such as falling objects, theft and hail damage. The highest amount you’ll receive from a claim is the cash value of the vehicle, so if it’s not worth much more than your deductible consider dropping full coverage.
Protection from uninsured/underinsured drivers
This coverage protects you and your vehicle’s occupants when the “other guys” are uninsured or don’t have enough coverage. Covered claims include hospital bills for your injuries as well as damage to your Scion tC.
Since many drivers only purchase the least amount of liability that is required, their liability coverage can quickly be exhausted. For this reason, having high UM/UIM coverages should not be overlooked. Normally the UM/UIM limits are set the same as your liablity limits.
Medical expense insurance
Med pay and PIP coverage reimburse you for bills like ambulance fees, nursing services and rehabilitation expenses. The coverages can be used to fill the gap from your health insurance plan or if there is no health insurance coverage. Medical payments and PIP cover both the driver and occupants and will also cover getting struck while a pedestrian. PIP coverage is not an option in every state but can be used in place of medical payments coverage
Collision coverage protection
This pays to fix your vehicle from damage resulting from colliding with a stationary object or other vehicle. You have to pay a deductible and the rest of the damage will be paid by collision coverage.
Collision can pay for things like scraping a guard rail, colliding with another moving vehicle, colliding with a tree and driving through your garage door. This coverage can be expensive, so you might think about dropping it from vehicles that are 8 years or older. Another option is to increase the deductible to save money on collision insurance.
Liability coverage
This can cover damages or injuries you inflict on a person or their property. This insurance protects YOU against other people’s claims. Liability doesn’t cover your own vehicle damage or injuries.
It consists of three limits, bodily injury for each person injured, bodily injury for the entire accident and a property damage limit. You might see values of 25/50/25 that translate to a $25,000 limit per person for injuries, $50,000 for the entire accident, and $25,000 of coverage for damaged propery. Another option is a combined single limit or CSL that pays claims from the same limit with no separate limits for injury or property damage.
Liability coverage pays for claims such as bail bonds, emergency aid and medical expenses. How much liability should you purchase? That is a personal decision, but buy as large an amount as possible.
