Searching for better insurance rates for your Nissan Cube? Getting the cheapest insurance on the web can appear to be somewhat difficult for vehicle owners that are not comfortable with quoting and buying their insurance over the internet. With such a large number of agents and insurers available, how are we expected to possibly compare every insurance company to find the lowest price?
Shopping for lower car insurance rates can take hours if you don’t understand the best way to get rate quotes. You can waste a lot of time talking to agents in your area, or you can stay home and use the web for quick rates.
All the larger companies belong to an insurance system that enables customers to enter their coverage request one time, and at least one company then returns a price quote for coverage. This prevents consumers from doing quote requests for each company you want a rate for. To access this free quoting program, click here to open in new window.
The one downside to pricing coverage this way is you cannot specify the providers to get quotes from. So if you want to select specific insurance companies to compare, we put together a list of the cheapest car insurance companies in your area. Click here to view list.
The method you choose is up to you, but try to use the same quote information for each comparison quote. If you use different values for each quote it will be next to impossible to make a fair comparison for your Nissan Cube. Just a small difference in limits can result in a big premium difference. And when quoting car insurance, remember that having more price comparisons increases your odds of finding the best rates. Some insurance companies are not set up to provide price estimates online, so you should also compare price quotes from those companies as well.
Companies that sell car insurance don’t always publicize the entire discount list in a way that’s easy to find, so below is a list both well-publicized as well as the least known credits available to lower your premiums when you buy insurance coverage online.
Discounts reduce rates, but you should keep in mind that many deductions do not apply to the entire policy premium. Most only reduce the cost of specific coverages such as liability and collision coverage. Just because you may think you would end up receiving a 100% discount, it doesn’t quite work that way.
Companies and a selection of discounts are outlined below.
Before you buy a policy, ask each company or agent to give you their best rates. Depending on the company, some discounts may not apply in your area. To find insurance companies that can offer you the previously mentioned discounts, follow this link.
When choosing proper insurance coverage, there really is no best way to insure your cars. Every situation is different.
For instance, these questions might help in determining if your situation might need an agent’s assistance.
If you’re not sure about those questions then you might want to talk to a licensed insurance agent. If you want to speak to an agent in your area, complete this form.
Learning about specific coverages of your policy helps when choosing which coverages you need for your vehicles. Policy terminology can be difficult to understand and even agents have difficulty translating policy wording.
Comprehensive coverages
Comprehensive insurance coverage covers damage that is not covered by collision coverage. A deductible will apply and the remainder of the damage will be paid by comprehensive coverage.
Comprehensive can pay for claims like damage from getting keyed, fire damage and rock chips in glass. The highest amount your insurance company will pay is the actual cash value, so if your deductible is as high as the vehicle’s value it’s not worth carrying full coverage.
Coverage for medical payments
Coverage for medical payments and/or PIP pay for short-term medical expenses such as dental work, hospital visits and funeral costs. They can be used in conjunction with a health insurance plan or if you are not covered by health insurance. Coverage applies to you and your occupants and also covers if you are hit as a while walking down the street. Personal Injury Protection is not an option in every state and gives slightly broader coverage than med pay
Liability insurance
This coverage protects you from damage that occurs to other’s property or people. This coverage protects you from claims by other people. It does not cover your own vehicle damage or injuries.
Split limit liability has three limits of coverage: bodily injury per person, bodily injury per accident and property damage. Your policy might show policy limits of 100/300/100 which means a limit of $100,000 per injured person, a per accident bodily injury limit of $300,000, and a limit of $100,000 paid for damaged property. Another option is a combined single limit or CSL which limits claims to one amount and claims can be made without the split limit restrictions.
Liability can pay for things like funeral expenses, medical services, court costs, legal defense fees and repair costs for stationary objects. How much coverage you buy is a decision to put some thought into, but you should buy higher limits if possible.
Collision coverage protection
Collision coverage pays for damage to your Cube from colliding with another vehicle or an object, but not an animal. You have to pay a deductible and then insurance will cover the remainder.
Collision can pay for claims like crashing into a building, sideswiping another vehicle, rolling your car, sustaining damage from a pot hole and driving through your garage door. Collision is rather expensive coverage, so analyze the benefit of dropping coverage from lower value vehicles. You can also bump up the deductible to get cheaper collision coverage.
Uninsured and underinsured coverage
Uninsured or Underinsured Motorist coverage gives you protection from other drivers when they do not carry enough liability coverage. Covered claims include medical payments for you and your occupants as well as damage to your Nissan Cube.
Since many drivers only purchase the least amount of liability that is required, it only takes a small accident to exceed their coverage. So UM/UIM coverage should not be overlooked. Usually these limits are set the same as your liablity limits.
