Consumers should take time to quote other rates once or twice a year because prices change frequently. Just because you had the lowest quotes on allroad coverage a few years ago you can probably find a lower rate today. Forget all the misinformation about car insurance because I’m going to teach you the only way to find better rates and still maintain coverage.

Insurance coverage policy discounts

Some companies do not advertise the complete list of policy discounts very clearly, so the list below contains a few of the more common and the harder-to-find credits available to you.

  • Auto/Life Discount – Not all insurance coverage companies offer life insurance, but some may give you a small discount if you purchase a life insurance policy as well.
  • College Student Discount – Children who live away from home at college without a vehicle on campus may qualify for this discount.
  • Good Grades Discount – Maintaining excellent grades may save as much as 25% on a car insurance quote. The discount lasts up until you turn 25.
  • Accident Forgiveness – This one isn’t a discount, but companies like GEICO, Progressive, and Allstate will allow you to have one accident without raising rates so long as you are claim-free prior to being involved in the accident.
  • Onboard Data Collection – Drivers who agree to allow driving data collection to look at their driving habits by using a telematics device in their vehicle such as Drivewise from Allstate or Snapshot from Progressive might see lower rates if their driving habits are good.
  • E-sign Discounts – A few larger companies will give a small break for buying a policy and signing up on the web.
  • Early Renewal Discounts – Select companies give a discount for signing up before your current policy expires. It could save around 10% when you buy car insurance online.
  • Defensive Driver Discount – Passing a course that instructs on driving safety can save you 5% or more and also improve your driving technique.

As a sidenote, most discount credits are not given to all coverage premiums. Most only reduce the cost of specific coverages such as comprehensive or collision. Even though the math looks like all those discounts means the company will pay you, companies wouldn’t make money that way.

A list of insurance coverage companies and some of the premium reductions they offer are:

  • GEICO may include discounts for daytime running lights, air bags, emergency military deployment, military active duty, driver training, anti-lock brakes, and anti-theft.
  • Travelers has savings for multi-policy, hybrid/electric vehicle, driver training, continuous insurance, payment discounts, student away at school, and IntelliDrive.
  • Farm Bureau offers discounts including multi-vehicle, youthful driver, 55 and retired, good student, multi-policy, and driver training.

Low cost car insurance quotes online

Performing a rate comparison is a ton of work if you aren’t aware of the easiest way. You can spend countless hours talking to insurance companies in your area, or you can stay home and use the web for quick rates.

All the larger companies belong to a marketplace where prospective buyers enter their policy data once, and at least one company can provide price quotes for coverage. This system prevents you from having to do quote forms to each individual car insurance company.

To compare rates now click here (opens in new window).

The one disadvantage to using this type of form is you don’t know exactly the providers you want to price. So if you prefer to choose individual companies to request quotes from, we have a listing of car insurance companies in your area. Click to view list.

The approach you take is up to you, just try to use the same coverage information on every price quote you get. If you compare different deductibles it will be next to impossible to make an equal comparison. Just a small difference in insurance coverages could throw off the whole comparison. And when price shopping your coverage, comparing all the rates in your area provides better odds of finding more affordable insurance. Some smaller insurers to not give online rate quotes, so it’s recommended that you also compare quotes from them, too.

How do I know if I need professional advice?

When it comes to buying adequate coverage, there is no perfect coverage plan. Every insured’s situation is different so your insurance should reflect that Here are some questions about coverages that could help you determine if you could use an agent’s help.

  • Exactly who is provided coverage by my policy?
  • Is other people’s property covered if stolen from my vehicle?
  • Do I have coverage when pulling a U-Haul trailer?
  • Will my insurance pay for OEM parts?
  • When should I buy a commercial auto policy?
  • What can I do if my company won’t pay a claim?
  • Am I covered if my car is in a flood?

If you can’t answer these questions but one or more may apply to you, you may need to chat with a licensed agent. If you don’t have a local agent, complete this form or you can also visit this page to select a carrier

Information about specific coverages

Knowing the specifics of a car insurance policy can be of help when determining the best coverages at the best deductibles and correct limits. Car insurance terms can be difficult to understand and coverage can change by endorsement. Below you’ll find the normal coverages available from car insurance companies.

Auto collision coverage

This coverage covers damage to your allroad caused by collision with another vehicle or an object, but not an animal. You have to pay a deductible and then insurance will cover the remainder.

Collision coverage pays for things like hitting a parking meter, scraping a guard rail, colliding with another moving vehicle and crashing into a ditch. This coverage can be expensive, so consider dropping it from lower value vehicles. Drivers also have the option to choose a higher deductible to get cheaper collision coverage.

Liability

Liability coverage can cover damage that occurs to other’s property or people that is your fault. This coverage protects you against claims from other people. Liability doesn’t cover your injuries or vehicle damage.

Liability coverage has three limits: per person bodily injury, per accident bodily injury, and a property damage limit. As an example, you may have values of 100/300/100 that means you have $100,000 bodily injury coverage, a limit of $300,000 in injury protection per accident, and a total limit of $100,000 for damage to vehicles and property. Alternatively, you may have a combined limit which limits claims to one amount rather than limiting it on a per person basis.

Liability insurance covers things like court costs, legal defense fees, bail bonds, medical services and pain and suffering. How much coverage you buy is up to you, but buy higher limits if possible.

Comprehensive or Other Than Collision

Comprehensive insurance coverage pays to fix your vehicle from damage from a wide range of events other than collision. You first must pay your deductible and the remainder of the damage will be paid by comprehensive coverage.

Comprehensive coverage protects against claims such as rock chips in glass, hitting a deer, theft and vandalism. The highest amount you’ll receive from a claim is the ACV or actual cash value, so if it’s not worth much more than your deductible it’s probably time to drop comprehensive insurance.

Medical costs insurance

Med pay and PIP coverage reimburse you for expenses for surgery, ambulance fees and funeral costs. The coverages can be used in conjunction with a health insurance policy or if there is no health insurance coverage. Medical payments and PIP cover you and your occupants in addition to getting struck while a pedestrian. PIP coverage is not an option in every state but it provides additional coverages not offered by medical payments coverage

UM/UIM Coverage

Uninsured or Underinsured Motorist coverage protects you and your vehicle’s occupants when other motorists either are underinsured or have no liability coverage at all. Covered losses include injuries to you and your family as well as damage to your Audi allroad.

Since many drivers carry very low liability coverage limits, it only takes a small accident to exceed their coverage. That’s why carrying high Uninsured/Underinsured Motorist coverage is a good idea. Frequently these limits are similar to your liability insurance amounts.

Make a quick buck

When trying to cut insurance costs, do not buy less coverage just to save a little money. There have been many situations where an insured dropped physical damage coverage to discover at claim time that their decision to reduce coverage ended up costing them more. The proper strategy is to find the BEST coverage at an affordable rate.

You just read a lot of information how to save on 2013 Audi allroad insurance. The key concept to understand is the more companies you get rates for, the better chance you’ll have of finding cheap car insurance. You may be surprised to find that the biggest savings come from a small local company.
